RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Sturgis Post 33 Titans defeated two of their American Legion rivals on Thursday in the Rushmore Classic tournament at Pete Lien Field, beating Spearfish Post 164 in game one, 10-5, and Belle Fourche Post 32 in game two, 15-7 in six innings.Â
Sturgis Post 33 racked up 13 hits in game one. Ridge Inhofer and David Anderson each tallied three hits to lead the Titans to the 10-5 win over Spearfish.
Dustin Alan threw a complete game four hitter for Sturgis. The righty struck out eight and walked one.
Noah Mollman took the loss for Spearfish Post 164. Alec Sundsted went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Post 164 in hits.
The Titans jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead after one inning in game two against Belle Fourche. Â Sturgis never looked back enroute to a 15-7 win in six innings over Post 32.
Evan Stroud took the win for Post 33. The righthander surrendered five runs on ten hits over four innings, walking one. Beau Peters threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen for the Titans.
Brayden Carbajal took the loss for Belle Fourche Post 32. Carbajal surrendered 13 runs on 20 hits over five innings, striking out two.
The Titans pounded out 23 hits in the game. Dawson Inhofer and Conner Cruikshank both had four hits to lead Sturgis Post 33.
Belle Fourche Post 32 tallied 12 hits. Caden Thomsen, Dalton Davis, Harvey Walding, and Carbajal all collected multiple hits for the Broncs.
The Titans (11-16) are in action next on Friday at 11am as they face off against the Aberdeen Smittys.Â
