Top five average $14,900 at AK Horse Sale

BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – The 2nd Annual AK Horse Sale brought excellent ranch horses and young prospects to the Roundup Arena in Belle Fourche, where bidding topped at $18,500 in a sale that offered a horse to fit most any level of horsemanship.

Selling under the gavel of Auctioneer Seth Weishaar, Belle Fourche, 12 geldings averaged $9,986; three mares, $9,833; one pony $13,500; and seven 2-year-olds and younger, $8,286.

Top selling horse was lot 19, Scuba Steve, a 2015 bay gelding from Rance and Koby Bowden. Jay McPherson, Piedmont, S.D. was the buyer at $18,500.

This 2020 Chestnut mare by JL Sirocco x Bulldashus from Wes and Ashley Wells, Anselmo, Neb., sold to Eric Vanwyk, Sterling, Colo. for $15,000. 

Kammerer has years of experience in organizing top quality horse sales. This 2nd Annual AK Horse sale exhibited a lineup of quality horses, some arena finished.

Other sale highlights included lot 36, HRV Twisted Bullet, 2020 Chestnut mare by JL Sirocco x Bulldashus from Wes and Ashley Wells sold to Eric Vanwyk, Sterling, Colo. for $15,000.  Okies Travelin Jonez, lot 27, a2017 Bay gelding by Travelin Jonez x Screen Play from Poppe Livestock sold to Jake Maurer, Bassett, Neb. at $14,000.

Rick Richards, Newell, S.D., took home two draft cross geldings; Tolliver, a fancy 2016 Blue Roan selling as lot 8 from Jon Adams, Ogden, Utah.,  for $13,500 and Ozzy, a Bay Roan selling as lot 24 from Chris Witcher, Kinsey, Mont., also bringing  $13,500.

Lot 29, Johnny Firetime, a 2016 Sorrel gelding by Firewater Time x Mach One Te from Jade Schmidt, Box Elder, S.D., sold to Casey Doud, Midland, S.D., for $12,500 while lot 11, GW Metallic Kiehnes, a 2021 Red Roan gelding by Metallic Everything x Pepto Bluelena from Jake Maurer, Bassett, Neb., sold to Zach Fecht, Ashby, Neb., for $12,500.
