Tornado touches down west of Faith Sunday

STURGIS, S.D. – Severe weather brought large hail and even a tornado to parts of rural Meade County Sunday.

The thunderstorm began in Perkins County and crossed over the county line west of Faith.

Rural residents in the area captured the tornado as it touched the ground  and crossed Highway 212 about 17 miles west of Faith.

That storm also brought 1.75-inch to 2-inch hail.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage from the tornado, although the National Weather Service is planning to visit the area today.
