WALL, S.D. – The Western Great Plains Track and Field Meet was held Thursday in Wall.
Maleena Brave of White River became the new state Class B leader in the high jump with a jump of 5-feet, 3.25 inches. That surpasses the previous mark of 5-feet, 2-inches set earlier this month by Lyman’s Skyler Volmer.
In the team standing, the Wall girls took first place as they made conference history by becoming the first program to win four straight W.G.P.C. championships. The Lady Eagles won six of 19 events.
Paige Kjerstad of Wall helped lead the team with a win in the 400 and taking part in the winning relay team in the 4×100 and 4×200.
On the boys side; Philip captured the team title by winning 8 of 19 individual events. Kadoka placed second.

In other track and field action Thursday, Rapid City Stevens and Rapid City Central participated in the Cross Town Classic – a showdown between the two rival teams.
