Travis William Swan was born September 22, 1982 in Belle Fourche. He was the son of Ron and Linda (Olson) Swan. In 2001, Travis graduated from the Harding County High School, where he was active in 4-H, softball, football, basketball, and track. His football team qualified for the SD State High School Football Tournament two times.
Travis was a very intelligent man. In 2006 he graduated from SDSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ag Systems Technology. He did it again in 2008 when he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. During some of his time in college he worked in Gwinner North Dakota at Bob Cat, where he did an internship. Travis also worked in partnership with his father for many years.. Working with wood was something Travis enjoyed, and he was highly meticulous with his work. Many memories were made as they were blessed to work side by side in the carpentry trade. Travis also enjoyed making things out of leather, including checkbook covers and billfolds. He was a tremendous cook, and he loved to cook on his grill. Travis also worked for an ethanol plant in Gwinner ND, and in Aberdeen he helped build and construct wind tower blades. For the past four years he has worked for Synchrony Bank.
Most people found Travis to be a quiet person. He was also a man who loved his family very much. Growing up with two sisters, Travis felt blessed and he loved them so much. Eventually he saw them get married and have children, and those kids couldn’t have asked for a better uncle in Travis. He was crazy about them, and they loved him back just as much. He enjoyed hunting, and the ranch life that included working cattle and riding horseback. Travis also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He loved being at home as well, and he was often found in the kitchen with his mom, cooking supper together. In October he became the best pumpkin carver the world has ever seen. He would use a blue print to start with, and his finished creation was always fun to look at.
