Trial dates set for Rapid City woman charged in death of adopted daughter

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A judge has set trial dates for a woman who is charged in the beating death of a 2-year-old child.

Judge Robert Gusinsky set trial dates of March 13-31 of 2023 for 24-year-old Precious Black Elk, who was indicted by a grand jury in August for premeditated first-degree murder, second degree murder or first – degree manslaughter.

The charges stem from the February 2021 death of her adopted daughter.

If convicted on the premeditated first-degree murder charge or the second degree murder charge, Black Elk could face life in prison.
