RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man allegedly involved in a 2015 murder will head to trial in 2022.
Richard Hirth, 40, is accused of being hired by Jonathan Klinetobe to kill Jessica Rehfeld of Sturgis. Rehfeld was stabbed to death and her body was found in 2016.
Hirth’s case has centered around his competency and on Tuesday, his defense attorneys said with the length of time the trial is expected to run as well as giving the state a chance to hire experts to review the competency exams that both defense and state requested a trial date in early January of 2022.
