Truck accident results in hazardous materials spill

BUFFALO, S.D. – The Harding County Sheriff’s office says Highway 79 is back open after a hazardous materials spill Monday.

Authorities say a truck accident at the junction of Highways 20 and 79 south of Reva closed Highway 79 to the 168 junction.

It was reported that the truck was leaking flammable liquid and the Rapid City Fire Department hazmat team was on scene.

The team spent most of Monday working on cleanup of the spill.

It was reported that the truck is leaking flammable liquid and the Rapid City Fire Department hazmat team is on scene.

As of 7:00 p.m. Monday night, SD511 still listed the road as being closed.

People are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
