Tuesday COVID-19 Report – active cases continue to fall; five new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 769 new cases with 292 of those listed as probable.

Active cases have decreased to 28,789 and the number of people hospitalized is down eleven to 355.

There were five new deaths reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,665. Of the new deaths, one was out of Fall River County and another was out of Perkins County.

New cases across the Black Hills area included an even 100 in Pennington County, where 21 of those were listed as probable.

Lawrence County added 37 new cases with 3 of those probable and Meade County added an additional 30 new cases with 3 probable.

Elsewhere, Butte County tallied 15 new cases, Fall River County had 13, Custer County listed 9 and Oglala Lakota and Harding County each had one new case.
