PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 434 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, of which, 97 were listed as probable.
Active cases were up slightly to 6,034 and the number of people hospitalized increased by 2 to 270.
No new deaths were reported for a second day in a row. The state’s death toll remains at 1,513.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 25 new cases, 2 of them listed as probable. Total number of cases in Pennington rises to 11,520.
In Lawrence County, 13 new cases were reported and Meade County added 8 new cases.
Butte and Oglala Lakota County each added 5 new cases and there were 2 new cases each in Custer and Fall River.
Total new cases across West River counties today was 75.
There were 1,007 new persons tested reported on Tuesday. Tuesday’s new person tested positivity rate is 43%.
