PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Health officials reported 719 total new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday with 153 of those listed as probable. Tuesday’s report includes numbers from Saturday and Sunday.
Active cases are up a bit to 5,513 while the number of people hospitalized dropped slightly to 202.
Eight new COVID-19 related deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,249. Of the new deaths, two of them were in Meade County and three were out of Pennington County.
New cases across the Black Hills area totaled 218 with 23 of those listed as probable.
Pennington County had 106 confirmed new cases with 15 probable. Meade County added 33 confirmed and 7 probable and Lawrence County reported 21 confirmed cases and one probable.
Elsewhere, Butte County listed 14, Oglala Lakota County had 10, Custer County reported 7 and Fall River County added four.
As of Tuesday, 67.75% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 58.20% have completed the vaccination series.
