Tuesday’s COVID-19 Report – 717 new cases, four new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 717 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday with 190 of those listed under the probable category.

Today’s update includes numbers from the weekend.

Active cases saw a decrease to 7,151 but hospitalizations due to the virus increased by 11 Tuesday to 284.

Four new deaths were reported, including one each in Pennington and Lawrence Counties. The state’s death toll is now 2.411.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 58 total new cases Tuesday. Of those, three are considered as probable.

Meade County had 20 new cases with 4 of those listed as probable, and Lawrence County added 13 new cases.

Elsewhere, Butte and Fall River County each had 8 new cases, five new cases were reported in Custer County and Oglala Lakota County had 2 new cases.
