STURGIS, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 1,341 new cases of COVID-19 in their Tuesday report, with 221 of those listed under the probable category. Today’s report includes numbers from the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Active cases saw a decrease to 6,778, while the number of people hospitalized due to the virus jumped by 9 to 243.
There were six new deaths reported today, with one each out of Pennington, Lawrence and Meade Counties. The state’s death toll is now 2,334.
New cases around the Black Hills area included 152 out of Pennington County, where three of those were listed as probable cases.
Meade County added 36 new cases in the latest report and Lawrence County tallied 37.
Elsewhere, Fall River County had 14 new cases, Butte County added 7, Custer County recorded 6 and Oglala Lakota County listed 3 new cases.
