PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Health officials reported 126 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday with 29 of them listed as probable. The Department of Health does not release COVID-19 data on the weekend, so today’s report includes data from both Saturday and Sunday.
Active cases continued their decline – down 111 Tuesday to 1,100.
Hospitalizations also declined by 15 today to 66.
No new deaths were reported, keeping the state’s death toll at 1,981.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 19 confirmed cases today along with one probable case.
Custer County, who is the lone county in the Black Hills listed with substantial spread, recorded another 7 new cases today.
Lawrence County added 4 confirmed new cases along with one new probable case.
Meade County added one new case today to send its cumulative total to 2,976.
As of Tuesday, 56% of the population eligible for the vaccine in South Dakota has received at least one dose while 49% have completed the vaccination series.
Vaccines are currently being given to anyone 16-years-old and above in South Dakota.
