PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 812 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday with 163 of those probable.
Tuesday’s update includes numbers from Saturday and Sunday.
Active cases saw a slight increase to an even 7,600 and the number of people hospitalized rose by 16 from yesterday to an even 200 today.
Four new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,133. Counties reporting new deaths include Clay, Meade, Pennington and Walworth.
New cases across the Black Hills area included 204 total in Pennington, where 40 of those were listed under the probable category.
Meade County had the next highest new case count with 35 confirmed and 5 probable for a total of 40.
Lawrence County reported 24 confirmed new cases and Butte County listed 19 confirmed.
Elsewhere, there were 14 new cases in Custer, 12 in Fall River County, 2 probable cases were reported out of Harding County and Oglala Lakota County had one new probable case.
