Twelve new deaths reported in Monday’s COVID-19 update

PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials on Monday reported a dozen new COVID-19 related deaths, sending the state’s death toll 2,742.

Despite the continuing number of deaths, active cases of the virus continue to decline across the state.

On Monday, health officials reported active cases have decreased to 13,248. The number of people hospitalized has also continued to drop – down 11 from Friday to 259 Monday.

There were 283 new cases reported.

Across the Black Hills, Pennington County accounted for 43 of those. Lawrence County had 13, Meade County reported 14, Oglala Lakota added 6, Fall River County listed 5 and there were 2 new cases each in Butte and Custer Counties.
