RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police say a high-speed chase ended in a crash and the arrest of two individuals found in possession of methamphetamine.
The driver, 39-year-old April Moran of Rapid City, and passenger, 31-year-old Teighlor Ryan of Pierre, both sustained injuries and were treated at the hospital before being transported to Pennington County Jail.
Police say Moran was on parole for third offense DUI and possession of a controlled substance, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and a parole hold.
Teighlor Ryan, who has an extensive criminal history including burglary, possession of a controlled substance, assault on law enforcement, third-offense DUI, escape, eluding, and grand theft, was also found with methamphetamine.
Police say she had three active theft warrants at the time of her arrest. Ryan was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, a parole hold, and her outstanding warrants.
The pursuit began after Meade County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, resulting in a chase that ended in a crash with another vehicle at the intersection of 5th Street and Kansas City Street.
The incident remains under investigation, and additional charges are anticipated pending the results of Moran’s toxicology report.
The four occupants of the victim’s vehicle were also transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
