STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with the Division of Criminal Investigation is currently investigating two significant motorcycle crashes which occurred on private property, at the Buffalo Chip Campground.
In one incident, 27-year-old Brandon Foss of Lead was arrested for Vehicular Battery and 2nd Offense D.U.I. for an August 7th incident in which the victim in this crash suffered significant life-threatening injuries.
The other incident, which happened on August 10, led to the arrest of Robert Shipp of Watford City, North Dakota. He was arrested for Vehicular Battery and D.U.I. The victim in this crash suffered significant life-threatening injuries.
Both subjects have bonded out of the Meade County Jail.
KBHB News has learned one of the victims is a Colorado woman who was struck by a motorcycle while she was walking out of a venue at the Buffalo Chip.
Friends of Aaften Wesbrock say she suffered a severe brain injury as a result of the impact. She is currently in ICU at Monument Healthcare Rapid City. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help with Aaften’s expenses. You can find it here: https://gofund.me/5b18e2c5
These cases remain under investigation and are being prosecuted by the Meade County States Attorney and the SD Attorney General’s Office.
Authorities say due to the ongoing nature of these investigations, no other information will be released at this time.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
