RAPID CITY, S.D. – Two people arrested in a sting at this year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally have pleaded guilty.
Vance Coats, 36, pleaded guilty to attempted receipt of child pornography, while Corey Simon, 36, pleaded guilty to attempted enticement of a minor using the internet.
The two thought they were communicating with an underage girl when they sent explicit photos and text messages. They were actually communicating with undercover agents in a joint operation combating sexual predators.
Coats could face a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, while Simon could face a maximum of life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
They both will be sentenced Jan. 27, 2025.
