PIEDMONT, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says two people were injured when a box truck sideswiped their motorcycle, forcing it off the highway in Piedmont Friday afternoon.
The names of the people involved have not been released.
Preliminary crash information indicates the 71-year-old male driver of a 2018 Vanderhall Laguna Trike was traveling west on Interstate 90 near mile marker 46 in the passing lane.
An unknown box truck was in the driving lane and began to change lanes, merging into the passing lane. The truck sideswiped the motorcycle, causing it to leave the roadway and enter the center median where it rolled.
Both the driver and 72-year-old female passenger were transported to a nearby hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The truck has not been located.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
