Two plead not guilty to state fraud charges

PIERRE, S.D. – Two Pierre women facing charges connected to an investigation into fraud at the South Dakota Department of Revenue have pleaded not guilty to the charges they are facing.

During their initial appearance both 64 year-old Lynne Hunsley and 51 year-old Danielle Degenstein requested to be arraigned before Sixth Circuit Judge Christina Klinger Tuesday.

Degenstein is facing a single charge of Misprision of a Felony and is next scheduled to appear in court December 30th for a non-evidentiary hearing.

Hunsley’s attorney Ellery Greg asked Klinger if Hunsley would be able to travel to Nebraska to visit family.  Assistant Attorney General Nolan Welker agreed with the request, but asked Grey to inform the Attorney General’s office of when Hunsley may be traveling out of state.

Welker also asked that travel be restricted to South Dakota and Nebraska.

Hunsley’s next court appearance is scheduled for late January for a non-evidentiary hearing.
