RAPID CITY, S.D. – The two women charged with distributing a controlled substance resulting in a death were sentenced Friday in Federal court.
Christina Sanchez, 25, and Katey McGruder, 26, were both sentenced to 20 years in prison for distributing the fentanyl that killed Michael Mohr back on April 6, 2022.
In court, Judge Karen Schreier said that Sanchez was communicating with McGruder about distributing fentanyl out of a Baymont hotel room that was rented in McGruder’s name.
Schreier voiced concern for the growing number of drug-related deaths she has seen in the past five years and decided the sentence was justified.
