STURGIS, S.D. – Vanocker Development, Inc. has been awarded two contracts to enhance the community of Sturgis, located at the foothills of the Black Hills National Forest, via a public/private partnership with the City of Sturgis.
In late 2022, Sturgis City Council awarded Vanocker Development the development component of a 77 acre parcel that the city owns along Vanocker Canyon Road.
In addition, on Monday, February 6th, the Sturgis City Council voted unanimously to award the public design contract for the project in excess of $573,000 to Vanocker Development.

Vanocker Development was founded by Kyle Treloar, long-time resident of Sturgis and partnered with Megan Kingsbury, a fifth-generation South Dakota rancher and businesswoman. Treloar offers 20 years of commercial and residential development experience in the Black Hills region, and Kingsbury offers global finance and development experience specific to commercial and experiential entertainment.
The City of Sturgis project is set to include an outdoor, water-based experiential entertainment venue along with a thematically complimentary commercial component on the front of the parcel, rounded out with medium density housing and high-end, large lot, single-family estate homes. The development will be connected to the City of Sturgis via a bike/walk path extension, ending with a tie-in to the existing Black Hills National Forest/BLM recreational trail system.
