DEADWOOD, S.D. – Law enforcement and Deadwood Fire and Rescue responded to what was believed to be an injury accident in the area of Mt. Roosevelt over the weekend.
Official say they were dispatched just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday to the area where a vehicle was approximately 60 yards down a steep grade and resting on its top.
Authorities were unable to find the occupant and considering the amount of damage, believed the occupant may have been ejected.
After a briefing, a grid search was conducted to determine if anyone was around. Rescue workers hiked approximately 1000 feet down a rugged terrain. Approximately 45 minutes later a subject was found matching the description at a nearby establishment. No further information about the subject was released.
Rescue workers were on scene for nearly 3 hours.
Other agencies on scene were Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County Emergency Management, Lawrence County Search and Rescue, Deadwood Police Department and Sunshine Towing.
