Veronica “Roni” Johnson, 63, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Roni was born June 28, 1960 to Merle and Jesie (Scott) Johnson, in Belle Fourche, SD, and was raised in Hulett, WY. She resided there until her illness sent her to live with her nephew, Scott and his wife, Lynda, in Belle Fourche. They were her care givers along with Roni’s brother, Allan, until her passing.
Roni was a little firecracker with a gigantic heart and beautiful smile. If anyone was ever in need of anything (whether it be a place to stay, food or whatever), she was their go to person.
Roni enjoyed singing karaoke and dancing with her friends. One of her favorite songs was “Hey, Mickey”.
Her last employment was at Red Rocks Café. Prior to that she worked at the Ponderosa Café for both the present and the past owners. In the past she had also worked as a prep cook, dishwasher, housekeeper, a flagger, and even worked for her parents at the sawmill in Hulett.
She was born with strawberry-blonde hair which made her the finest babysitter around. She was blessed with a great disposition however you didn’t want to get under her skin! Most of her friends had her babysit for them and some of those kids used her as their babysitter, also!
Most importantly was the loving care that she gave her mom and dad in their final years.
Roni is survived by her brothers, Allan of Ohio, Lloyd (Pearl) of Moorcroft, WY, and Jack of Hulett; nephew, Scott (Lynda) of Belle Fourche, SD; and numerous nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Ardy of Spearfish, SD, Rita of Buffalo, WY, Vana of Missouri, and Mary of Jackson, Minnesota; and brother-in-law, John Oliver of Whitewood, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cheryl Oliver; brothers, Butch, Larry, and Dick; sister-in-law, Cathy Johnson of Ohio; and nephew, Justin Johnson.
She will be missed by many people. Rest in Peace our friend.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023, 10:00 a.m., at the Greater Hulett Community Center, Hulett, WY.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to put a bench in the Hulett City Park.
