Veterans Classic Wrap for Day One – Titans win opener vs Gillette

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Sturgis Titans opened up the  Veterans Classic Baseball Tournament in Rapid City with a win over Gillette Thursday.

The Titans jumped ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning and saw the Riders answer with a tying run in the top of the third.

Sturgis answered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back – adding four more runs in the fifth and a couple more in the sixth to win 9-1.

David Anderson helped lead Sturgis with 2 runs, 3 hits and an R.B.I.

R.J. Andrzejewski added 3 hits and Beau Peters added a couple of hits for the Titans.

In other pool play at Pete Lien Field, Fremont shut down Rapid City Post 320 12-6.

Next door, at Fitzgerald Stadium, Rapid City Post 22 rolled to a 10 – 1 win over Bellevue.
