SPEARFISH, S.D. – A public informational meeting regarding the West Dakota and North Fifth Streets and Utility Project (City Park to Hillcrest Street) will be held 5:30 p.m. March 18, 2025, in the City Council Chambers, 625 N. 5th Street. All are welcome to attend.Â
The City of Spearfish Public Works Department will be completing street and utility work on the Dakota and 5th Streets Project #2503 beginning by April 1, 2025, in City Park. The Street project will extend onto nearby portions of Canyon, West Dakota, 5th, and Birch streets and is expected to be finished by mid-November 2025. The City’s engineering consultant is Foth Infrastructure & Environment of Rapid City, and the contractor is Pedersen Excavating of Spearfish.
To minimize the disruption to City Park and the adjacent neighborhood, the work will be completed in phases. Roads will be temporarily closed, but access to the park and homes will be provided at all times with detours as needed. The recreation trail will be disturbed but will remain open with detours.
Please watch for construction workers and equipment in the park, adjacent to the roadway, and entering and leaving this work zone. Motorists are asked to slow down and use extra caution through the area.
For more information, please call the Public Works Department at (605) 642-1333.
