YANKTON, S.D. – Rapid City Post 22 jumped out to a 4 to 1 lead over Brookings in their first game at the State A Legion Baseball Tournament – but that lead wouldn’t hold.
The Brookings Post 74 Bandits answered the Hardhats’ lead with three runs on three hits, two walks and an error to tie the game in the sixth. The Bandits would then stun Post 22 as Brookings loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh and Zach Struck smacked a one run single to clinch a 5 to 4 walk-off victory.
Brookings advances to Wednesday evening’s championship round to face Sioux Falls East. Post 22 will play Harrisburg’s Maroon squad at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in an elimination game.
In the late game Tuesday, host team Yankton defeated Renner Post 307 7 to 1 and will play the Harrisburg Gold Squad in the nightcap Wednesday.
The other elimination game Wednesday features Aberdeen taking on Renner.
