STURGIS, SD – The Sioux Falls Washington Warriors scored early and often and defeated Sturgis 27-4 in four innings on Friday night at Strong Field.
The Warriors led 3-0 after one inning and 17-0 headed into the bottom on the third. Sturgis plated three runs to extend the game into the fourth inning.
Sioux Falls took advantage of Scooper mistakes and scored 10 runs in the top of the fourth to put the game out of reach.
Washington (1-0) was led by Dylan Tiede, who went 3-for-3, scoring three runs and knocking in seven RBIs. The Warriors finished with 18 hits, one error and left seven on base. Tommy Peterson got the pitching win for Sioux Falls.
Sturgis (0-4) had seven hits, left eight on base and was led by Dayln Dschaak, who had a single and a double on three plate appearances. Brody Royer took the pitching loss for the Scoopers.
Sturgis is in action next Wednesday, as they travel to McKeague Field in Rapid City to take on the Douglas Patriots.
