RAPID CITY, S.D. – Due to the weather, the closure of Highway 1416 at the crossover with South Ellsworth Road has been delayed until 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Contractors will be installing sanitary sewer line to support the growth of the City of Box Elder.
The Oak Street crossover will be used as a detour for passenger vehicles. Truck traffic will need to route to Liberty Boulevard and refrain from using Box Elder Road. Motorists should consider utilizing Liberty Boulevard for access to the downtown area. Detour signage will be in place.
The intersection is expected to reopen to traffic on May 3, 2025.
