Wednesday COVID-19 Report includes sixteen new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported active cases of COVID-19 dropped below 10,000 today, however, sixteen new deaths were reported.

Active cases dropped to 9,771 and the number of people hospitalized because of the virus was down 9 from Tuesday to 240.

Sixteen new deaths among cases were reported Wednesday, sending the state’s death toll to 2,758. Of the new deaths, there was one each out of Pennington County and Lawrence Counties.

New cases across the Black Hills included 45 in Pennington County, 13 in Lawrence and 8 out of Meade County.

Elsewhere, Butte and Fall River County each reported 4, Oglala Lakota County had 8 and Custer County listed two new cases.
