Wednesday’s COVID-19 report – 466 new cases, two new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 466 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, with 129 of those listed under the probable category.

Active cases saw an increase to 5,723, as did the number of hospitalizations, which rose five to an even 200.

There were two new deaths reported, sending the state’s total to 2,205. One of the new deaths was out of Meade County, where there have been 46 deaths among cases since the pandemic began.

New case reports across the Black Hills area included 71 total new cases in Pennington County, where 12 of those were considered as probable.

Meade County reported 23 new cases and Lawrence County had 18.

Butte County listed 16 new cases, Custer County had 12, Oglala Lakota County reported 6, Fall River added 5 and Harding County had 2 probable new cases.
