Wednesday’s COVID-19 Update – 295 new cases, active cases increase

PIERRE, S.D. – No new deaths were reported today, but state health officials reported another uptick in the number of active cases of COVID-19 in their Wednesday report.

New cases today totaled 295 with 83 considered as probable.

Active cases went from 2,419 Tuesday to 2,511 Wednesday. The number of people hospitalized due to the virus dropped by four to 94.

With no new deaths reported, the state’s death toll remains at 1,938. South Dakota has not had a COVID-19 –related death since April 1st.

New cases across the Black Hills area included 21 in Pennington County, where there are currently 127 active cases.

Both Lawrence and Meade Counties each reported 3 new cases. Active cases in Lawrence total 25 and active cases in Meade County total 31.

Custer saw an increase of 6 new cases today, Fall River County added 2 new cases and Butte County had one.
