Wednesday’s COVID-19 update; 95 new cases statewide

PIERRE, S.D. – There were 95 new positive tests for COVID-19 Wednesday according to the South Dakota Department of Health.

In the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 16 new cases. The new cases give Pennington 173 active cases with a cumulative total of 257.

Oglala Lakota and Fall River County each reported one new case.

Meade County reported no new cases, but 2 new recoveries, sending their active case load down to 14.

Other case numbers around the state include 32 in Beadle County, 15 in Minnehaha, 5 in Brown, 3 each in Brookings and Jerauld, 2 each in Edmunds, Brule and Lake and one each in Aurora, Buffalo, Codington, Hanson, Kingsbury, Lincoln, Lyman and Union.

The number of active cases statewide increased by one to 1,016 and the number of hospitalizations went down 2 from yesterday to 87.

The total number of negative tests statewide is up to 43,500. Of those, Pennington County has 3,670, Meade County has 686 and Lawrence County has 606.
