Chicago at Green Bay
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Aaron Jones rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown and caught a scoring pass from Aaron Rodgers, who continued his domination of the Chicago Bears by leading the Green Bay Packers to a 27-10 victory.
Green Bay bounced back from a season-opening 23-7 loss at Minnesota and beat the Bears for a seventh straight time, matching its second-longest win streak in the 205-game history of the NFL’s oldest rivalry.
The Packers built a 24-7 halftime lead by dominating the second period, then made a goal-line stand in the fourth quarter to thwart a Bears comeback attempt. Rodgers went 19 of 25 for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
Atlanta at Los Angeles Rams
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Matthew Stafford threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns, Jalen Ramsey intercepted a potential go-ahead touchdown pass in the end zone and the Los Angeles Rams held off a second-half rally attempt by the Atlanta Falcons for a 31-27 victory.
Cooper Kupp had two TD catches for the defending Super Bowl champions who bounced back from a disappointing defeat against the Buffalo Bills in their season opener.
Atlanta started 0-2 for the third straight year and trailed 28-3 early in the third quarter before mounting a comeback. Marcus Mariota was sacked before he could get a Hail Mary attempt off on the final play.
Arizona at Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Raiders lost a game in which they led by 20 or more points for the first time when Las Vegas blew a 20-0 halftime lead and fell to the Arizona Cardinals 29-23 in overtime.
The Cardinals completed an 11-play, 94-yard drive to put their first points on the board with 6:08 left in the third quarter to make it 20-7.
It was clear Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray was on a mission, and the Raiders defense could be in for a long second half.
After gaining just 86 yards on 19 offensive plays in the first half, Arizona was on the field for 59 offensive plays and gained 327 yards in the second half.
Cincinnati at Dallas
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor and quarterback Joe Burrow both talked about how much season is left to be played. They also said pretty much every team will have a two-game losing streak.
Unfortunately for the defending AFC champion Bengals, they have one to start the season.
Burrow was sacked six more times in a 20-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. A week after Pittsburgh won on a field goal in overtime, the Cowboys won with a 50-yarder on the final play of regulation.
The Bengals are the first defending AFC champion to open with consecutive losses since 1999.
Houston at Denver
DENVER (AP) — Russell Wilson won his Denver debut but the offense was booed during the Broncos’ sloppy 16-9 win over the Houston Texans a week after he was jeered in his return to Seattle.
Wilson started out just 6-for-20 before leading Denver to a touchdown and a field goal to erase a 9-6 deficit.
The Broncos won despite committing 13 penalties for 100 yards a week after they led the league with a dozen infractions. And Broncos rookie head coach Nathaniel Hackett again had a number of problematic play calls.
This time, he was able to get his first NFL win, however.
Seattle at San Francisco
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Coach Pete Carroll knew it wouldn’t be easy for the Seattle Seahawks to follow up their emotional, season-opening win with another inspired performance.
Boy, was he right. Six days after knocking off former quarterback Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos, almost nothing went right for the Seahawks.
The offense failed to score a point, a trick play backfired and the San Francisco 49ers dominated the trenches in a 27-7 loss.
New England at Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Mac Jones threw for 253 yards and a touchdown and the New England Patriots edged the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-14.
The Patriots remained without an 0-2 start since 2001 by taking advantage of a handful of mistakes by the Steelers. Pittsburgh’s biggest gaffe came on a muffed punt in the third quarter by ex-Patriot Gunner Olszewski.
The miscue set up a 2-yard touchdown run by Damien Harris that gave New England an 11-point lead it didn’t relinquish.
Mitch Trubisky passed for 168 yards with a touchdown and an interception for Pittsburgh.
New York Jets at Cleveland
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns’ home opener went from festive to frightening like that. Cleveland blew a two-touchdown lead in the final two minutes and lost 31-30 to the New York Jets.
The Jets scored two TDs and recovered an onside kick during their stunning rally.
The Browns seemed into control when Nick Chubb scored his third rushing TD with 1:55 left. But that’s when things unraveled for the Browns.
They missed an extra point, gave up a 66-yard TD pass and then failed to recover an onside kick before giving up a TD pass with 22 seconds left. The Browns have little time to dwell on their collapse. They host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday.
Tampa Bay at New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tom Brady threw a go-ahead touchdown pass to Breshad Perriman and Tampa Bay intercepted Jameis Winston three times in the last 12 minutes to beat the Saints 20-10.
Bucs receiver Mike Evans and Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore both were ejected after a skirmish early in the fourth quarter during which Evans flattened the Saints’ star cornerback. A visibly frustrated Brady was seen throwing a tablet earlier in the game and helped incite the fourth-quarter melee by shouting at Lattimore.
The game was tied at 3 at the time. But the Buccaneers dominated the rest of the way.
Carolina at New York Giants
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Graham Gano kicked a 56-yard field goal with 3:34 to play and the New York Giants beat the Carolina Panthers 19-16. New York is 2-0 for the first time since 2016.
The Panthers lost their ninth straight, the longest active streak in the NFL. Gano also hit field goals from 51, 36 and 33 yards and Daniel Jones found rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger on a 16-yard touchdown pass.
Baker Mayfield hit DJ Moore for a 16-yard touchdown early in the second half to put the Panthers ahead 13-6. Eddy Pineiro kicked field goals of 31, 32 and 38 for Carolina.
Miami at Baltimore
BALTIMORE (AP) — Tua Tagovailoa threw for 469 yards and six touchdowns, four of which came during a spectacular fourth quarter as the Miami Dolphins rallied from a 21-point deficit to beat the Baltimore Ravens 42-38.
Tagovailoa’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Waddle with 14 seconds left completed the incredible comeback after Miami trailed 35-14 with under 13 minutes remaining. Tyreek Hill had touchdown catches of 48 and 60 yards during that rally, the latter of which tied the game with 5:19 to play.
Justin Tucker kicked a 51-yard field goal with 2:18 remaining to put Baltimore ahead, but that was far too much time for Miami’s offense, which the Ravens didn’t come close to stopping in the final quarter.
Indianapolis at Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts waited eight months for a return trip to Jacksonville, a chance to prove last year’s season finale was a fluke and a chance to end a head-scratching and embarrassing skid in the AFC South series.
They openly welcomed the opportunity to bury the memories of last year’s debacle against the Jaguars and move on from last week’s disappointment against Houston. How did they handle it? Well, they were essentially no-shows.
Jacksonville drubbed Indianapolis 24-0, a loss that could create speculation about coach Frank Reich’s future with the franchise.
Washington at Detroit
DETROIT (AP) — Jared Goff threw two of his four touchdown passes to Amon-Ra St. Brown to lift the Detroit Lions to a 36-27 win over Washington.
Aidan Hutchinson had three sacks in the first half to help the Lions lead 22-0 at halftime and Will Harris had an interception in the second half to stunt the Commanders as they rallied. Washington made adjustments to give Carson Wentz more time in the second half.
Wentz took advantage and pulled his team within seven points with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Curtis Samuel, a 20-yard pass to Logan Thomas.
