MITCHELL, S.D. – Another tourney, another team title for the Sturgis Scooper Wrestling team.
The Scoopers crowned several champions en-route to a team win at the Jerry Opbroek Wrestling Invitational Saturday.
Sturgis finished with 246 points to win another team title. Rapid City Stevens placed second with 213 points and Parkston was third with 122 points.
Sturgis crowned five champions on the day, including Tyler Baldwin at 113 pounds, Parker Graveman at 132, Kalvin Ketelsen at 150, Joseph Nadig at 165 and Zhoel Irion at 175 pounds.
Rapid City Stevens crowned three champions with Adrian Callahan at 138 pounds, Jacob Williams at 157 pounds and Ayden Kellog at 215 pounds.
In other wrestling action over the weekend, the Black Hills Conference boys and girls wrestling tournament was held Saturday in Hill City.
Belle Fourche captured the boys title while Spearfish won the girls title for the fourth year in a row.
Belle Fourche finished with 169.5 points, just ahead of second place Douglas/RC Christian/New Underwood with 160 points. Custer was third with 133 points. Spearfish placed fourth.
Spearfish won the girls title with 167 points. Custer was second with 139 points. Hot Springs was third with 92 points and Douglas/RC Christian/New Underwood placed fourth.
