Weekly COVID-19 report – 139 new cases, ten new deaths

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The weekly COVID-19 update from the South Dakota Department of Health indicated 139 new cases.

Active cases have dropped to 488 and the number of people hospitalized remained relatively stable at 41.

Ten new COVID-19 related deaths were reported, sending the state’s total since the pandemic began to 2,893. Of those deaths, one was reported out of Lawrence County and another was reported out of Custer County.

New cases across the Black Hills area totaled 36.

Pennington County had 14 of the new cases with Butte County reporting 8.

Elsewhere, Lawrence and Meade each counted 5 new cases and there were two new cases each in Fall River and Oglala Lakota counties.
