PIERRE, S.D. – New cases of COVID-19 continue to see an increasing trend as state health officials report 970 new cases this week – up nearly 500 over last week.
Active cases have surpassed two-thousand, totaling 2,173 according to the South Dakota Department of Health’s weekly report released today.
Hospitalizations decreased by three this week, totaling 49. For the second week in a row, deaths remained at 2,928.
Cases were all up this week across the Black Hills area.
Pennington County had the most new cases with 219. Meade County had the second highest amount with 46 and Fall River had the third highest amount with 37 new cases being reported.
Elsewhere, Lawrence County had 33, Custer County listed 30, Butte County showed 18, Oglala Lakota County totaled 12 and Harding County added 4 new cases.
