PIERRE, S.D. – The number of new COVID-19 cases over the past week declined a bit this week as the Department of Health reported 839 new cases.
In their weekly report, the department also reported 41 new hospitalizations and a total of 78 – which is up three from last week’s numbers.
There were six new deaths among cases reported, sending the state’s death toll to 3,181. One of the new deaths was out of Custer County.
Active cases statewide total 617 this week.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County had 89 new cases this past week – down from the 106 they reported last week.
Lawrence County added a dozen new cases while Meade County had 25 reported.
Elsewhere, Oglala Lakota County showed 55 new cases, Fall River County had 13, Butte County listed 10 and 6 new cases were reported out of Custer County.
