Weekly COVID-19 Report – Ten new deaths, 953 new cases

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 953 new cases of COVID-19 over the past week.

In their weekly report issued Wednesday, there were 665 active cases of the virus and 83 people are hospitalized. Both active cases and hospitalizations are up over last week.

Ten new deaths among cases were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 3,088. The Black Hills area accounted for two of the deaths – one out of Butte County, the other out of Pennington County.

Pennington County showed 69 new cases over the past week. Lawrence County had 27 and Meade County reported 15.

Elsewhere, Fall River County listed 21, Oglala Lakota had 12, Custer County showed 5 and Butte County reported 4 new cases.
