PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health released their first weekly COVID-19 update today, showing 111 new cases since Friday’s last daily report was issued.
Active cases totaled 2,426 and the number of people hospitalized was 64.
There were five new deaths reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,880.
Across the Black Hills area, there were 37 new cases, with Pennington County accounting for 24 of them.
Elsewhere, there were 5 in Butte, 4 in Oglala Lakota, 2 in Custer and one each in Lawrence and Meade counties.
