PIERRE, S.D. – In their weekly COVID-19 update, state health officials reported 127 new cases.
Active cases dropped by 72 this past week to 416, however, the number of hospitalizations increased by six to 47.
There were six new deaths reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,898. Of the new deaths, one was out of Pennington County and another was out of Meade County. Pennington County’s death toll is now 342 and Meade County’s death toll rises to 63.
Across the Black Hills area, there were 44 new cases this week.
Pennington County had 31 of the new cases and Lawrence County had five.
Elsewhere, Meade and Custer County each had three new cases and one new case was reported in Butte and Oglala Lakota County.
