PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 1,182 new cases of COVID-19 in their weekly report. That is down 72 from last week.
Active cases were up nearly 200 to 3,299. Thirteen new hospitalizations were reported, sending this week’s total to 66.
Two new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll since the pandemic began to 2,940. The two deaths were reported out of Brookings and Faulk counties.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported the most new cases with 246. That total is down 3 from last week.
Lawrence County saw 68 new cases this week, while Meade County tallied 11. New cases were up over last week in Lawrence and down in Meade.
Elsewhere, Fall River County had 34 new cases reported, Custer County added 27, Butte County listed 17 and Oglala Lakota County showed a dozen new cases this week.
