PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Health officials reported 653 new cases of COVID-19 in their weekly report Wednesday. That is up from 595 reported last week.
Active cases, for the fourth week in a row, increased to 1,678. The number of people hospitalized totaled 52.
No new deaths were reported this week, keeping the state’s death toll at 2,928. However, there were changes in the number of deaths reported by the South Dakota Department of Health. One death was removed in each of the 10-19 and 70-79 age groups. The total for deaths in 80+ went up by two. The total number of deaths among women went up by two; the number for men went down by two.
New cases across the Black Hills area totaled 250 with Pennington County reporting the most at 149. Active cases in Pennington County are up to 326.
Meade County had the next highest amount with 41 and Lawrence County added 22 new cases.
Elsewhere, Oglala Lakota County reported 15 new cases, Fall River County added 11, Custer County tallied 9 and there were 3 new cases in Butte County.
