Weekly COVID report shows decreasing numbers; no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Health Department reported Wednesday the number of new COVID cases continues to decline.

In their weekly report, the department reported 352 new cases this past week along with 18 new hospitalizations. The total number of people hospitalized dropped to 33 this week, and the number of active cases statewide also decreased to 289.

No new deaths were reported this week, so the state’s death toll remained at 3,214.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 48 new cases with Lawrence, Meade and Oglala Lakota County all reporting 8 new cases each.

Elsewhere, Butte County showed 5 new cases, Custer County had 2 and just one new cases was reported out of Fall River County.
