West River Electric shared pictures of photos of lines "galloping" in the wind during the blizzard Saturday.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Like Black Hills Electric and other power companies, West River Electric was battling the blizzard Saturday, working diligently to get their customer’s power back on.

The electric coop says residents in Rapid Valley and Box Elder lost power due to ice buildup on the lines.

As of 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, West River reported “most everything in the Valley and Box Elder should be back on. We do have 1 isolated outage east of Box Elder. There is ice buildup causing some lines to trip. Hopefully the wind will go down shortly. Stay safe everyone.”
