Wildfire burns 71 acres south of Rapid City Friday

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Fire crews say equipment failure sparked a wildfire south of Rapid City that burned approximately 71 acres Friday.

The fire was located in the area of Old Folsom Road and Lamb Road.

Dry weather and winds allowed the fire to take off and burn through the area quickly, but land development in the area helped crews gain the upper hand.

Several agencies responded to the fire.
