Wildfire burns an estimated 300 acres in northeast Wyoming

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. – Fire officials in northeast Wyoming say a wildfire has burned approximately 300 acres Tuesday.

The fire is located in Northwestern Crook and Northeastern Campbell Counties in the area of Jenkins road. The fire was burning in both grass and timber.

The fire was named the ‘Jenkins Fire’ and Crook County Emergency Management says the fire was contained as of 9:30 Tuesday night.

Officials say firefighters are in ‘mop up’ operations. They say there will still be smoke from the fire through the night.

There was no word on the cause of the fire.
