Windy, snowy weather conditions hamper travel

STURGIS, S.D. – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon today for the Black Hills, as windy and snowy weather affects travel in the area this morning.

SD 511 reports I-90 between the Wyoming line and Piedmont has scattered icy spots and is slippery. There are reports of icy conditions this morning as well between Wall and Rapid City. Visibility is also down in some areas due to blowing snow.

Yesterday evening, icy roads led to some accidents on the Interstate, including an ambulance that rolled over near mile marker 32 at Sturgis. There was also a reported rollover at the Whitewood exit.

This morning, the highway patrol reports a pickup truck that slid into a light pole, knocking it over in the Rapid City area.

There has been no word on serious injuries from accidents yesterday or this morning, but the highway patrol and Department of Transportation are urging drivers to slow down this morning.
