Winners crowned in region track and field meets Thursday

UNDATED – Region Track and Field meets were held across the area Thursday.

In Region 8A, Belle Fourche won four events and captured the boys region title with 169.5 points. The Custer boys, who won six events, finished in second.

Custer claimed the girls region title with 167 points after winning eight events and Belle Fourche finished in second with 150 points.

Aiden Giffin of Belle Fourche was a double-event winner, capturing the 100-meter dash and the long jump.

At the Region 7A, Winner won the girls team title with 112 points as Skylar Hansen won the 100-meter hurdles, the long jump and running the winning 4×200-meter relay race.

Winner also captured the 7A boys title with 129 points. Warrior Preston Norrid was a double-event winner, capturing the shot put and discus. Winner’s Aaron Monk won the 100-meters and his teammate Brady Fritz won the 200 meters. Kade Watson won the 800-meters.

At the Region 8B meet, Timber Lake won both the boys and girls team titles.

In the boys, Faith finished in second as Tyson Selby won both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles to help the Longhorns finish in second.

In the girls’ Newell finished in second.

At the Region 7B meet, Wall claimed the boys title as Tack Tines finished in first in the 200 meter dash and the long jump. The Eagle boys also won the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relay races.

The Wall girls also claimed the 7B title. Ava Dinger of Wall won the triple jump and her teammate won the shot put.

White River’s Caelyn Valandra-Prue won three titles on the day, claiming the 200 meters, the 400 meters and 800 meters.

The Kadoka girls had three winners with Gracie Eisenbraun in the pole vault, Lanie Blair in the discus and Bella Williams in the 100 meters.
